Day 1 - May 10th

We thought we would get away early for our first day on the road especially since the pup gets us up and moving around 6 or 6:30. Well, true to form we weren't organized and ready to roll until about 10:00 then stopped for propane, gas and last minute groceries. Oh yes, a last breakfast at the Train Depot to prepare us for the road.

Finally leaving Grants Pass we headed north on I-5 to Roseburg and then headed east on Highway 138. This took us along the North Umpqua River for about 50 miles. What a beautiful drive as all of the varied colors of green are displayed from the spring foliage that has emerged speckled with dots of white from the wild dogwood blossoms. We looked at each other and said why do we need to go anywhere else to see beautiful country. We continued on to the Cascade Summit (5925 feet) where we found a turn out and snow.

Kallie had her first experience at romping in the snow and Annie was in 7th heaven to run free in the snow. Our adventures took us on to the KOA in Tumalo for the evening. Donna and I fed the girls and then headed to the Tumalo Feed Company which was first introduced to us by our friends Bill & Sandy. Cheers, Sandy. Yes we did!

Tomorrow we plan to spend part of the day in Sisters being tourists (we love that town for shopping and sightseeing).
